故事发生在80年代的德国，那个时候，流行电子音乐依然是不被大众所认可的地下文化。哈里（汤姆·希林 Tom Schilling 饰）是阿波罗乐队的经纪人，因为文化审美的狭隘，阿波罗乐队的人气一直都不温不火。为了重振乐队的士气，哈里决定在皇冠马戏团开一场演唱会，并且扬言要邀请重磅嘉宾来为演唱会助势。 几乎是在一夜之间，演唱会的海报和宣传就出现在了城市的各个角落里，市民们对这场演唱会的兴致被钓到了最高点。直到此时，哈里才意识到一个问题，那就是想要办一场演唱会，除了明星阵容和疯狂造势外，有一样东西必不可少，那就是资金。。故事发生在1939年，丹尼尔（梅尔·吉布森 Mel Gibson 饰）是一名空军飞行员，一直以来，他都深深爱恋着名叫海伦（Isabel Glasser 饰）的女子，就在丹尼尔决定将内心的感情公诸于众之时，海伦竟然遭遇了意外成为了植物人。心碎的丹尼尔找到了研究冷冻生物学的好友哈里（乔治·温迪特 George Wendt 饰），希望后者能够将自己冷冻，以逃避现实。 令丹尼尔没有想到的是，当他再次睁开双眼之时，时间已经飞跃到了1992年，此时的世界同他昏睡之前的世界已然截然不同。丹尼尔想找哈里，却找到了哈里的女儿，并得知了挚友的死讯，与此同时，丹尼尔亦得知海伦早已苏醒，直到今日依旧保持独身一人住在海边的悬崖之上，激动万分的丹尼尔马不停蹄地赶往彼处，寻找久违的爱人。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
