塚原卜传是日本战国时代的一个传奇人物，他出生于剑之圣地鹿岛，从小便学习鹿岛中古流的太刀之术，在自己的一生当中曾经面临过多次生死对决，可是他却一次都没有受过伤。在此次的新剧当中，将会以此前从未在大荧幕上展现过的塚原卜传的青年时期为中心来进行故事的展开。。Inspired by W.G. Sebald’s book and based on WWII archive footage, the film puts forward the question: is it morally acceptable to use civilian population as a means of war? Is it possible to justify mass destruction for the sake of higher “moral” ideals?
